What to expect at your first event

• It's louder and busier than you think. Bring eye protection and earplugs if you're sensitive.
• Pit areas are workshops. Stay out of unfamiliar pits unless invited. Builders are wrenching.
• Matches are short. Most antweight bouts last 1–2 minutes. Stick around for the whole bracket.
• Everyone was new once. Walk up to any builder between matches and introduce yourself. It's how this hobby works.
• Bring a notebook. You'll see a hundred design ideas. Sketch the ones that grab you.
• Stay for the awards. Sportsmanship and best-newcomer awards are often the highlight.
